Association for the rural development of Montemuro, Arada and Gralheira
mountains

Created in 27th August 1991, with headquarters located in Arouca.

Works in 4 main areas to foster the local development:

ADRIMAG has public and private partners and an intervention
area which combines 7 municipalities.
It’s integrated in the territory “Magic Mountains”, certified by
the EUROPARC Federation, with the European CHARTER for
sustainable tourism in protected areas

OUR LOCAL DEVELOPMENT
STRATEGY
"The local development strategy aims to create a dynamic region,
entrepreneurial and innovative and with high quality of life, focused on
the endogenous resources with a view to promoting tourism and
environmental preservation, which doesn't neglect cohesion and social
well-being of its inhabitants."
Local Development Strategy
Objectives:
- To develop nature tourism and local resources;
- To publicize and preserve the rural heritage;
- To stimulate entrepreneurship and the businesses creation and a service based
society.
- To defense the endogenous heritage;
- To develop the rural tourism sector oriented to the region's competitiveness and
securing the population;
- To support all kinds of cultural initiatives, encouraging the development of
activities related to handicrafts, ethnography and the animation of the land;
- Focusing on training, building relationships and partnerships between agencies
and similar bodies;
- To support the creation of innovative enterprises, sustainable compassionate and
socially responsible.

Program of the economic enhancement of the endogenous resources
-
An instrument of QREN (National Strategic Reference Framework 20072013) designed to economically enhance the endogenous resources of the
regions.
-
ADRIMAG is, since July 2009, the lead entity of a consortium formed in the
region of PROVERE Montemuro, Arada and Gralheira . It is responsible for
the execution of 10 anchor projects and 111 additional projects, amounting
to approximately EUR 61 million.
-
It has been formed a consortium of public and private entities in the
ADRIMAG’s region that have committed themselves to a set of anchor
projects and complementary.
Modular Training of short duration
ADRIMAG is an entity certified by the National Agency for Qualification for
the promotion and development of training courses, taking in account the
needs of the region, in terms of employment and enterprise creation
promotion, target to disfavored people, namely unemployed, young and
women.

ADRIMAG has been developing, since 2003, several initiatives and projects
which main objective is the development of methodologies and instruments to
support entrepreneurs, namely through EQUAL Community Initiative,
GRUNDTVIG and LEONARDO DA VINCI.

CRER
Enterprises Creation in Rural Areas
– ADRIMAG has a methodology (CRER Methodology) to support
entrepreneurs from the idea to the business creation, with the
possibility of testing business without the formal creation of an
enterprise.
– CRER Project - it’s a structure in the rural area to test business ideas,
through the adaptation and incorporation of methodologies and
instruments developed abroad, namely the Couveuses and Boutiques de
Gestion (France and Belgium)
– The CRER Project promote the identification of business opportunities
in the ADRIMAG’s area linked to the resources and potentialities of the
territory: tourism, agriculture and handicraft

Supported by the Ministry of Solidarity and Social Security
Aims:
To promote the social inclusion of citizens through
actions, that will be executed in partnership, which
contributes for the employability increase and
reduce the critical poverty, especially in childhood.
It has special attention in implementing measures
that promote the active inclusion of people with
disabilities.

1.1 - To raise the awareness of entrepreneurs, institutions and
local employers to promote the jobs creation
1.2 - Signaling, routing and guidance of students who drop out or
complete their education system for facilitating the professional
integration
1.3 – To stimulate the entrepreneurial skills of secondary school
students

Activities:
• Training of personal and social skills (soft skills) with students
of around 10 years of age
• To inform the school community (teachers, employees and
parents)
• Strategies to prevent the drugs and alcohol abuse by
young people.
• Raising awareness about the signals and risks.

childhood poverty - Addictions prevention:
Activities (Cont.):
• Psychological consulting to motivate the alcoholics to the
treatment
• Conference to the community to inform about the alcoholism
(social, physical and psychological consequences, treatment,
…)

3.1 - Community tourism project in the rural villages of Serra da
Freita (Arouca).
Main objectives:
• The inclusion of the local community in the tourism located in this
Mountain
• To show the local people the benefits of the tourism (social and
economic)
• To explore the traditional habits and the rural people culture with
the villagers
• To show and promote the local habits and the rural people’s
culture to the tourists
• To show the local young people the business and job
opportunities (small pensions, traditional restaurant, …)

Why do we think that this project is
innovative?
1st – This project was developed to solve social
problems detected by the Municipal diagnosis
2nd – The activities were defined by the group of all
social entities (Social Municipal Network)
3rd – The actions are executed in partnership with
all local social entities
4th – This innovation project can be transferred to
other regions/countries
