Latgale is:

with well-balanced multi-sectoral economy, with high
level of education and high level of living of
inhabitants;
Bridge between East and West with well developed
infrastructure and qualitative services;
Important region for tourism – Land of blue Lakes
with natural, cultural values and multi-cultural
ambiance.

Centers of national importance- Daugavpils, Rezekne;
Centers of regional importance-Ludza, Krāslava,
Preiļi, Balvi and Līvani;
Centers of district importance- all small towns of
region: Viļāni, Kārsava, Zilupe, Viļaka, Ilūkste, Subate,
Dagda, and biggest villages: Aglona, Malta, Višķi,
Ezernieki, Indra. Potencial centers of district
importance- Dricāni, Rugāji, Tilža, Baltinava

All these cities are connect up with transport
corridors and make policentric structure of

concepts:

Ilūkste and Subate.
These cities are located on south
borderland of Latvia, with small towns
Aknīste and Nereta (Zemgale region) create
functional network of cities.

2)To ensure effective and sustainable links between cities
and towns of all level within Latgale ;
3)To improve the access to services, information,
communication and job opportunities;

environment-friendly way.
