SWOT - Poland
Strengths – Time needed to build a house, investment
cost, growth of construction market
Weaknesses – Wood price increase, lack of
standards and requirements, no clear warranty
standards, higher insurance cost
Opportunities – wood construction promotion,
ecological material, energy efficient solutions,
development of the region, employment
Threats – non-stabilised wood market, unreliable
contractors, low knowledge among clients about
how to use a modern house (ventilation issues)
SWOT - Estonia
•Availability of poor quality materials e.g.
unseasoned unsorted structural wood instead of kilndried strength graded structural timber
•Perceived need for maintenance of wood facades
•Fear of trouble getting fire safety approval
•Lack of good examples in wood construction
practice
•Poor availability of instructions & typical solutions for
using wood in construction
