THE CULTURE
• Historical monuments
Slovakia has a great culture. It has a lot of beautiful castles like Budmerice,
Krásna Hôrka, Trenčiansky hrad, Bojnice, Spišský hrad(is the largerst in
Europe) and so on. Unfortunately some of the castles are destroyed and their
repairs are expensive.
The Traditions
•
Slovakia has more traditional dances. They are called folklore. We have a
traditional meal, too. It´s sheep cheese haluskas. Especially with bacon.
It´s very famous and delicious. In Slovakia we have special Christmas.
The week before the Christmas night we usually decorate our Christmas
trees. We have Christmas dinner on 24th December. We usually eat carp
with potato salad. After the dinner we go near the Christmas tree and
there we unpack our presents. On the next day we visit our family. We
celebrate New Year so that we make fire-works at midnight. Of course, we
have snacks and we drink alcohol.
• Easter Monday in Slovakia is very popular. Boys go to girls´
houses to pour water and lash them. Girls give them some money,
chocolate or sweet kiss.
