They are both recognized as fathers of the
internet.
Their partnership that drove the creation of
the TCP/IP protocol as one of the core
components of the Internet.
But it wasn't until 1973 that when Kahn,
who as then working for Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency , rejoined his
UCLA colleague to create the TCP/IP
protocol.
TCP/IP protocol
●
●
The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
and the Internet Protocol (IP), were the first
networking protocols defined in this
standard as a set of communication
protocols
TCP/IP provides end-to-end connectivity
specifying how data should be formatted,
addressed, transmitted, routed and
received at the destination.
TCP/IP Functionality

Its organized into 4 different layers
Link Layer (lowest) it contains
communication technologies for a single
network segment
Internet layer it connects independent
networks
Transport layer it handles process-toprocess communication
Application layer (highest) which interfaces
to the user and provides support services.
