Filtering IP Addresses

Configure A Filtering Server

To begin blocking website, you must configure a
Filtering Server. Because we don’t have one we’ll just
tell the ASA 5505 to send all requests to the local host
(127.0.0.1). The end result is the same – the user
doesn’t get to go to the website.

To begin you’ll need to Click the Configuration
button… Firewall dash board button and finally select
URL Filtering Servers
Configure a URL Filter Server
Adding A Filtering Server

To add a filtering server you’ll need to click the
“Add” button and change the following
properties:
Interface: inside
 IP Address: 127.0.0.1
 Timeout: 30
 Protocol TCP1
 TCP Connections 5
 Click OK


Next you’ll need to add a Filter Rule.
Select “Configuration”… “Firewall”… “Filter
Rules”

Add A HTTP Filter Rule


To add a HTTP Filter Rule…
From the “+Add” button, Select the “Add Filter
HTTP Rule”
Add A HTTP Rule
Add Filter HTTP Rule

You can configure the following:
Action: Filter HTTP
 Source: Any
 Destination: 198.150.66.33
 Service: HTTP


Select appropriate “HTTP” options and click
OK
Add Filter HTTP Rule
Apply Your Changes

As always, you’ll need to make sure that you
apply your changes!
Apply Your Changes!
Test Your Configuration

Now, go to network.nwtc.edu to see if your
configuration is blocking it!
