S&T Campus Wireless Upgrade
• Dell branded Aruba 802.11N 600Mb/s 2.5
and 5Ghz wireless solution selected
• Deployed to 25 buildings both on and off
campus to date
• Will be proceeding with deployment on or
before spring break

S&T VOIP Phone System
• Current Cisco VOIP system at end of life
• New Cisco replacement not cost effective
• Evaluated
– UMC using CenturyLink hosted Broadsoft

Microsoft Lync replaces OCS
• What is OCS?
– MS first stab at UC
– IM w/presence and video conferencing
• Lync is OCS on steroids.
– Think of free Webex using IP based audio.
– Outside federation to Office 365 coming
– Public federation possible
– SIP connectivity may integrate with local VOIP
• UMIT upgrading OCS to MS Lync on 4/1
Office 365 replaces Outlook Live
• Outlook Live transition to Office 365 over
the summer
