Globalstar is a satellite voice and data communications network based on
a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation of 40 operating satellites.
How a call is managed

The Globalstar system is reliable; each terminal connects with up to three different
satellite at the same time, automatically and continuously choosing the one
with the better signal; this is valid for voice and data communications.

The Globalstar Modem, is like any commercial
standard modem, and can be integrated with any
system that supports std Hayes AT commands.
It permits Asynchronous and packet data
communication at 9,6 Kbps uncompressed; specific
software applications that are available may
substantially increase data throughput
