Ancient Roman Baths
Instead of single person baths, in ancient Rome, there
were large houses for bathing.
What Were They For?
Public bathing was a part of every day life for the
Romans
They were used for much more than just hygiene, such
as recreation
Visiting the baths
In present day millions of people visit the bath, you
can look but can’t swim.
When baths were created
The Celts made the first Public Bath.
Dedicated to the goddess Sulis
Public Bathing?
In ancient Rome, public bathing was the way to go, it
was accepted by everyone.
Who uses the baths
Men us the bath after work. And then women would
use it.

Wealthy Romans sometimes had private bath houses
but they were open to the public for a fee

First they went to a changing room to change from
street clothes to bathing clothes

The heat from the baths were coming from under the
baths.
Slaves used fire to heat the baths.
