Publius Aelius Hadrnuns (Hadrian) was born in Italica, Spain on
January 24, 76 and died at age sixty-two on July 10, 138. Hadrian
was the 14th Emperor on the Roman Empire. Hadrian's father was
a cousin of the emperor Trajan which put Hadrian in a possible
position of becoming emperor because of the bloodline. His
reign of emperor was from 117A.D. to 138A.D. He is best known
for the building of Hadrian’s Wall which was a source of
protections from “invaders” like Scotland. He traveled all the way
from Greece to Britain and Africa. Hadrian was a deep lover of
Greek architecture and so built great public buildings
throughout the empire. Hadrian marched with the soldiers from
place; it was rare for an emperor to be with his soldiers in
marching to or from battles. Hadrian was also considered a
humanist and he was the third of the five “Good Emperors”.
