CLOTHING IN ROME
Clothing in Rome was more than
bed sheets!
Formal wear for Romans
Men wore a toga for speeches and
formal occasions.
The toga was a large woolen cloth in
a trapezoidal shape.
The toga had to be draped just so.
Sometimes a special slave was kept
to take care of the toga.
The toga was uncomfortable!
Women’s wear
A woman did not wear a toga.
She wore a stola.
A stola was a white woolen garment.
