Nationally certified asthma educator (AE-C)
Course content includes epidemiology, pathophysiology,
factors contributing to acute and chronic asthma, patient and
family assessment, asthma management including
pharmacological, behavioral and environmental interventions,
development of an asthma action plan, program outcomes,
referral and professional networking, and spirometry for the
health care professional.
CMEs and CEUs
Certified Asthma Educator
AE-C® certification is the official designation of a
certified asthma educator who has the necessary
knowledge and skills to counsel patients in asthma
management and has successfully passed the National
Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAEBC) exam.
The NAECB exam is a voluntary testing program used
to assess qualified health professionals knowledge in
asthma education.
