 MISSION STATEMENT
Supply the Community College of Denver and the State of
Colorado with ethical, competent professional
radiographers
Mission Statement Pledge
Provide students the opportunity to succeed in Radiology Technology by:
 Offering equal access to the program.
 Supporting successful student outcomes through a broad general
education, comprehensive advising and support services, and a full
range of learning activities that facilitate learning needs and styles.
 Promoting the motivation, knowledge and skills necessary for upward

1. Students will be clinically competent

Program Effectiveness
5. Program Effectiveness Measures:
At least 75% of program graduates who are
actively seeking employment will obtain
employment within 6 months of graduation.
Students will be satisfied with their education
(80% or higher).
Employers will be satisfied with the graduate’s
performance (80% or higher).
Program will maintain a 21-month program
completion rate 75% or higher.
Program will maintain a first-time pass rate of
ARRT board examination of 85% or higher.

Pre-requisite Coursework:
 ENG 121-English Composition transferable
 BIO 201/202 Anatomy and Physiology with Lab transferable
 MAT 121 College Algebra or higher transferable
 PSY 101 or SOC 101 or PSY 235 transferable
 PHY 105 (Physics) or higher transferable
 Note: There is a 7 year limit for all science prerequisites
& 10 years on Math

Job Shadow experience
 12 hours of documented job shadow experience is
required
 How to obtain this:
 Contact the Human Resource departments of hospitals in
your area
 Explain you are interested in job shadow experience in
Diagnostic Imaging to see if becoming a radiologic
technologist is a satisfying future career.
 Schedule time, be on time, observe and ask questions of
the technologists
 Have job shadow experience form signed
 Make copies for your records
1. Complete all prerequisite coursework, may be in process
the semester the application is submitted **

What next!
1. Packets evaluated for completeness-those
applicants will be invited to take the Health
Occupation Aptitude Exam (HOAE) $50.00 at the

 From May to July, several things happen:
 Attend an RTE orientation (required)
 Job shadow at a clinical site if desired
 Get immunizations completed (TB)
 CPR certification –BLS for Healthcare
 10-year Federal background check & drug screening
 Line up Financial Aid
At least 6-8 weeks before fall semester
Prepare yourself and your family for a challenging two years!
Criminal Background Check
This is a 10 year Federal Background Check
Disqualifying Offenses:
 Any conviction, plea of guilty or no contest, or deferred
adjudication of the following criminal offenses (felony or
misdemeanor) appearing on a criminal background check
will disqualify an applicant for admission to a CCCS Health
Program.
 There is no appealing this background check. It is
mandatory.

I.
Crimes of violence (assault, sexual offenses, arson, kidnapping,
murder, any crime against an at-risk adult or juvenile, etc.). as
defined in section 18-1.3-406 C.R.S. in the 10 years immediately
preceding the submittal of application.
II.
Any offense involving unlawful sexual behavior—same time limit as
above.
III. Any crime, the underlying basis of which has been found by the
court on the record to include an act of domestic violence, as
defined in section 18-6-800.3 C.R.S. in the 7 years immediately
preceding the submittal of application.
IV. Any crime of child abuse, as defined in section 18-6-401 C.R.S.—
same time limit as above.
V. Any crime related to the sale, possession, distribution or transfer of
narcotics or controlled substances—same time limit as III.
VI. Crimes of theft—Felony has a 7 year limit; Misdemeanor has a 5
year limit

VII. Any offense of sexual assault on a client by a psychotherapist,
as defined in section 18-3-405.5 C.R.S. in the 7 years
immediately preceding the submittal of application
VIII. Crimes of moral turpitude (prostitution, public
lewdness/exposure, etc.)Same time limit as above.
IX. Registered sex offenders (NO time limit)
X.
Any offense in another state, the elements of which are
substantially similar to the elements of any of the above
offenses.
XI. More than 1 DUI in the 7 years immediately preceding the
submittal of application
Students who have successfully completed the terms of their
deferred adjudication agreement will not be disqualified.

Program Curriculum
 Principles of radiation:
 Production of x-rays
 Properties of x-ray energy
 Understanding of x-ray equipment operation
 How x-rays interact with human cells
 How x-rays interact with atoms
 Anatomy and Procedures:
 Basic understanding of all anatomical systems
 In-depth knowledge of bony anatomy
 Positioning of body parts for radiographic image production
 Understanding and use of appropriate technical factors
needed in order to create a diagnostic image
