What are Anticipatory Orders?
• Allows providers to order prn medications upon
admission to the hospital
• Quick, one-click ordering includes medications
for pain, nausea, sleep or bowel management
where clinically appropriate
Goals
• To improve patient care by reducing delays in providing
symptom relief related to prn medication administration.
• To reduce wasteful communication between nurses and
providers related to orders regarding bowel, pain, sleep
and nausea.
• To improve daily workflow for nursing and house staff
related to the management of patient’s bowel, pain,
sleep and nausea

Removal of Order Sets from Admission

Please note order set links
on blue Admission Wizard
screen will be retired after
entering admission orders.
Please use ordersets by
typing Keyword in Wiz/HEO.
