Numeracy:
We will be consolidating and building
on our knowledge, skills and
understanding from the our time in
Primary School. This will include
grammar, punctuation and spelling
skills as well as revision of the
features of different text types. This
will be done through both reading
and writing.
We will be consolidating and

and understanding from the our
time in Primary School.
There will be a focus on using our
skills in problem solving and open
ended, real life mathematical
investigations.
Guided reading sessions will consist
of learning how to answer the
different types of questions and
developing their reading stamina.
RE:
We will be extending the children’s knowledge of different beliefs by
looking at Humanists and their view of humanity and the world.
Spanish:
We will be developing our conversation skills further so that the
children would be able to have simple discussions with Native
Spanish speakers.
We will be revisiting e-safety and making links with
keeping safe and healthy through ICT. We will focus on
issues such as Cyber Bullying and ways of preventing
and dealing with this. We will be making presentations
using different media e.g. sound clips, commentaries for
presentations, animation, and video clips.
PE and Swimming:
We will be preparing dances for the whole school dance
festival.
There will be a focus on fitness and the children will
plan and participate in high energy fitness routines.
They will monitor their own progress and
improvements over the term.
PSHE:
As we move towards the end of the school year our thoughts will turn
towards how we can best prepare for Secondary School. There will be
discussions on our worries and concerns as well as practical activities
such as reading timetables , making friends and the best way to ask for
help.
Events:
Foundation subjects:
As Scientists we will be studying our bodies. We will be exploring the internal organs
and their role in keeping humans alive. We will be looking at factors that effect health
and growth, including exercise and the factors that can harmful to our bodies. This
includes understanding the effects of smoking and other harmful drugs, as well as
understanding the importance of properly taken medication and a healthy diet. We will
undertake various experiments which will increase our understanding of heart rate and
blood circulation.
We will discuss the changes that happen in animals, including humans, as they change
and develop from childhood to adulthood.
As Sociologists we will be thinking about what it means to be human. We will be
thinking about choices that have to be made, the way in which different groups
interact and our relationships with each other. This will include an understanding of
emotional and physical relationships.
As Designers we will be using the whole design process to create moving models of
exercise machines. This will include the use of cams, cogs and levers. Basic healthy
meals will be prepared.
As Artists we will be using photography to look at how the movement of the human
body can be represented.
As Musicians we will practising and singing songs for different assemblies.
We will use and apply skills learnt in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT throughout the topic.

End of term presentation
Leavers Assembly and parents
will be invited in for a keep fit
session and a presentation from
the children on how to keep
healthy.
