E-mail Overload
Email messages can usually be divided into 3 main categories:
1.those that don’t need an answer or action
2.those that you only have to forward or reply to
3.those that demand some kind of action by you
Use Folders!
Decide what do to with incoming email
To be deleted?
To be forwarded without any further action from
you?
To be kept for reference only?
To be answered, and nothing more is demanded
from you?
To be handled as a task?
Write first, edit later
Make sure that you don’t ask
unnecessary questions
Use the markup effects only when
necessary
Have a clear subject line
Pick up the phone
Don’t go overboard with attachments
Communicative Silos
Bring the outside in
Focus on opportunity, not crisis
Create a “guiding coalition” that
breaks down barriers
Once formed, hold an inaugural inperson meeting
