Communication
Introduction to Communication
Communication is the passing of information between people.
Organisations.
Factors that affect
communication.
Who you are communicating with, if it is a
professional you will language that is different
to communicating with a young child.
What you are trying to communicate, if it is an
advert you will use persuasive language but if
it is instructions it must be clear and to the
point.
The number of people that you want to
communicate the information to.
How quick you want the information to be
communicated.
Different methods of
communication
Written (letter, memo etc).
Verbal (face-to-face, telephone).
Electronic (e-mail, websites).
Visual (posters, adverts etc).
Internal and External
Communication
A business will can communicate either
internally or externally.
Internal communication is when you share
communication with people inside the
organisation.
External communication is when you
communicate with people outside of the
business.
Identify the different communication methods
that be used internally and externally.
Presentation of Information
We are going to concentrate at looking
at written, electronic and visual forms of
communication.
When we use each of these methods to
communicate we need to take into
consideration how we present the
information.
Presentation of Information
Are we trying to impress.
Attracting attention.
Setting out facts clearly.
Creating a questionnaire.
Summarising information.
Writing a reminder
Explaining technical details.
Layout of Information
All information should be correctly set-out in order to meet
certain standards and present a good impression of the
business, therefore;
Sentences should end with a full stop.
There is a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence.
Your sentences have a subject and a verb that agree.
Do not make common grammatical errors such as you and I
instead of you and me.
Write in the active voice rather than the passive voice.
Ensure statistical information is easy to read.
