ESS standardisation and move towards practical
implementation of the Sponsorship

5
Management issues
• Overlap with the work of the Sponsorship on
Standardisation
– Problem: ESSNet on Standardisation has to
continue the work of the Sponsorship on
Standardisation
• Overlap between SGA1 and SGA2
– Problem: Same human resources for both SGAs
• SWOT vs. Cost-benefit analysis
– Problem: Changes in direction at the half-time
6
Budgetary issues
• Budget of SGA1 – 250 000 euros
• Budget of SGA2 – 150 000 euros
Problem: low budget
7
Communication issues (1)
• In SGA1 no extra money for external
communication (informal communication)
• In May 2013 Forward-looking feedback workshop
was held for the Sponsorship on Standardisation,
(The Hague)
• In case of case studies we contacted the SDMX
Secretary and Eurostat
• In SGA2 we ask the DIME standardisation
Steering Group to coordinate the communication
between ESS-standardisation related initiatives
and projects (e.g. validation, feedbacks etc.)
8
Communication issues (2)
• In SGA2 we would like to communicate with the
initiatives engaged in ESS standardisation-related
activities (e.g. cost-benefit analysis, business
architecture, development and use of standards, etc.)
• In SGA2 the following external communication
channels will be used:
–
–
–
–
European Modernisation Workshop in Valencia
Q2014, Vienna
Joint workshop with DIME
Website for the deliverables of the project (beside CROS
portal)
9
Communication issues (3)
• In SGA2 we choose a case study for testing the
standard setting process with the help of
EUROSTAT and DIME Steering Group
