Why do we go on
community outings?
• To practice social skills in a variety of
situations and settings with people in the
community
• To learn community access skills and what
our community has to offer for our students
• To practice skills in price comparison,
locating items, reading a recipe for
ingredients, creating a grocery list, budgeting,
and purchasing items from a cashier

• Why do we go to the production center?
– To introduce job skills
– To practice independent work skills
– To learn appropriate workplace behavior
and communication
– To practice social skills with peers and
community members
