• Recognize techniques used by online predators:
o Grooming: trying to connect to a child or getting the child to
be comfortable with him/her
• If an unknown person is trying to “get to know you”, let
someone know immediately. Remember, predators often
disguise themselves as children, but are adults!
o Fishing: trying to figure out where a child lives by asking about
hobbies or interests (“what is your favorite baseball team?”,
“what was the weather like today?”)
• DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY OF THIS INFORMATION!!!
o Mirroring: trying to mimic an emotion a child
feels, stating they understand how the child feels
o
DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!!
