Attucks was the first casualty in the cause for American Independence. The year was On July 4, America adopted the Declaration of Independence from England, written by Thomas Jefferson. The year was The Constitutional Convention meets to write a Constitution for the U.S. Most of the great founders of America attended including George Washington, James Madison, and John Adams. They met to form a new government that would be strong and, at the same time, protect the liberties that were fought for in the American Revolution. Germany and Japan surrender The year was U.S. ENTERS WORLD WAR II!!! Japan attacks Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The year was After an impeachment trial, the Senate finds President Clinton not guilty. It was only the 3rd time in US history a President went through impeachment proceedings. The year was The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that separate schools for black students and white students were not equal. The Court said segregated schools violated the U.S. Constitution. The years were The United States sends large numbers of soldiers to fight in the Vietnam War. The year is Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated in Memphis. Senator Robert F. Kennedy is assassinated in Los Angeles. 21st Century • 2001 • 2003 • 2009 The year was Hijacked jets crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, September 11, killing about 3,000 people. The year is President Obama continues the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan The year was U.S.- led forces invade Iraq and remove its government
