Introduction
CATALYST program aims to help youth
specially the underserved students of
Pakistan, Uzbekistan and the United
States to develop a sense of responsibility
toward their communities through the
creation of animated public service
announcements on the topic of
natural disaster preparedness.
CATATLYST Goals
• To impart a sense of civic responsibility among youth on
the margins of society;
• To engage Pakistani, Uzbekistani and US youth in a
collaborative digital arts project that builds mutual
understanding and respect between the diverse people
of their countries;
• To improve natural disaster preparedness awareness
among participating communities; and
• To develop youth leaders with the 21st century skills and
knowledge to take action and make positive
contributions to their communities and countries.
Program Components
The program will have five main
components:
• 1) Participant Selection & Support;
• 2) the Virtual Collaboration;
• 3) the United States Program;
• 4) the Pakistan Program; and,
• 5) The Uzbekistan Program.
PARTICIPANT SELECTION AND
SUPPORT
• iEARN will work with educators, school
administrators, the U.S. embassies and
government ministries in Pakistan and
Uzbekistan to conduct an open, meritbased selection process in each school to
select the two educators and four youth
from each country traveling travelling to
USA on the program.
VIRTUAL COLLABORATION
• Participation in the iEARN Online Projects
NDYS and Civics.
Outcomes:
• Animations containing PSAs presented in
the Global Gallery.
• Community Service projects
United States Program
• Training of the teachers from participating
schools.
• Pakistani and Uzbekistani delegations,
travel to Baton Rouge for a two-week
program.
• Baton Rouge delegate to travel to
Uzbekistan
• AnimAction Workshops.
• Screening of the Animations in Red Stick
Film Festival and other venues.
Pakistan Program
• AnimAction to adapt the follow-up Karachi
animation workshops to reflect the
outcomes of the Baton Rouge training.
• Community action projects
Uzbekistan Program
• Final round of AnimAction training
• 4 youth and 2 educators from USA to
participate in15th iEARN Youth Summit
in Bukhara with Pakistani and Uzbek
counterparts.
• Final product presentation by all 3
countries
