Overview
• Passed in March 1941
• Made it a lot easier for the united
states to provide military aid to
Great Britain and other places at
war against Hitler
• FDR hoped this would help keep
war away from the U.S. shores

after the Japanese attack on Pearl
Harbor in December of 1941 (but
that is another story)

• The lend lease act authorized FDR
to sell, transfer, title to, exchange,
lease, lend, or in other wise dispose
of, to any article. When ever it was
needed in the interest of the
defense of the United States.
WHEN?!
• By 1945 THE U.S had sent over $40
billion of lend-lease act to the allies
and soviet union.
HOW?
• Extending help was both being a
good neighbor and acting to keep
the peace
Significant to the war
• It was a way the allies and soviet
union got weapons and food that
they needed but had to us cash. it
was important to the war because
we were making money but not going
to war.
