Flow with the Circulatory System!
What does it do?
The main function
of the
circulatory
system is for the
blood vessels to
carry blood rich
with oxygen
through the body
and to the heart.
The Heart
The Heart is a 2
sided, 4
chambered pump.
The heart is a
very important
organ made of
mostly muscle. It
pumps blood
through the
body.
Blood Cells
The Red Blood Cells,
White Blood Cells,
and Platelets are all
part of the blood
cells. The White
blood cells and
Platelets help heal
the body from cuts
and scrapes. The
Red Blood Cells are
responsible for
carrying carbon
dioxide and Oxygen.
The Blood Vessels
The blood vessels are
the Capillaries, veins,
and arteries. The
capillaries are thin
blood vessels that
connect the artery to
the veins. The veins
carry blood back to
your heart and the
arteries carry blood
away from the heart.
Just remember A
for away!
Plasma
The Plasma is a
liquid in your
blood. Your blood
is half made of
plasma. The plasma
carries blood cells
and other
components
through the body.
Plasma is produced
in the liver.
How does the Circulatory System work with other
Systems?
The Circulatory System
can work with the other
systems like the
digestive and
respiratory. In the
digestive the circulatory
system brings the
nutrients to the cells.
In the respiratory the
circulatory system brings
in carbon dioxide and
picks up oxygen and
flows it in the body.
How do you keep the System Healthy?
To keep the Circulatory
System system healthy,
you want to first of all
eat healthy foods. You
also want to exercise to
get your heart beating.
That's right if you want
your circulatory system
to be healthy you better
get outside and play
games like soccer, riding
a bike, or even swim. The
last way is to cut down
your stress the more
What did we Learn?
You learned that the
circulatory system is
a important
transport system
that has many
different parts and
each part works
differently. You
also learned that a
lot of exercise is
good for the
system.
