Major Robert Anderson was part of the Union.
Brigadier General P.G.T Beauregard was part of the
Confederacy. There was a thirty – three hour
bombardment by confederate cannons , Union forces
surrendered Fort Sumter in South Carolina’s
Charleston Harbor. The first engagement of the war
ended in Rebel victory .
Who
General P.G.T Beauregard was in command of the confederate forces . He was
born in may 28, 1818 and died in February 20 , 1893.
- He was a southern military officer , politician inventor , writer , and civil
servant.
- He was an engineer in the Mexican-American war.
- He was also superintendent at west point in 1861.
- After that he became first brigadier general in the Confederate States
Army.
- He commanded the defenses at the beginning f the Civil War at Fort
Sumter.
Major Robert Anderson ,garrison commander was part of the union.
- He was a United States Army officer during the American Civil War.
- He served the military for 38 years.
- He was a commander of the Union.
- His actions in defense of Fort Sumter made him an immediate national
hero.
- In 1862 , he was elected an honorary member of the New York Society of
the Cincinatti.
