arranged for music lessons for
her children.
 Laurine had the strongest
connection with Aaron, giving
him his first piano lessons,
promoting his musical

in his musical career
 Copland's
sister was a big influence on
him as a kid, she is one of the many
people that got him interested in
composing at a young age.


Copland's teacher and mentor Nadia Boulanger
was a French composer, conductor and teacher
who taught many composers and performers of
the 20th century, she was his most important
influence.
Another inspiration was jazz. "The impression of
jazz one receives in a foreign country is totally
unlike the impression of such music heard in
one's own country when I heard jazz played in
Vienna, it was like hearing it for the first time."
Hoedown is one of the movements from
the ballet Rodeo.
