i don’t write pretty
i don’t write pretty
because ugly is what I see
i see it in your eyes
i feel it in your breath
when you speak
you hide behind a number
so no one knows your name
but i know you
i see you
i walk you
same place as me
i don’t write pretty
too many names on the wall
unable to rest
discarded piece of flesh
no name
no soul
no spirit
waiting for the drum to wake
them
but the drum is tired
worn down
too many tears have fallen
it’s music drowned by other
voices
better dead than
i don’t write pretty
these streets won’t let me
