• comes from the Portuguese „barroca“ and
means “elaborate”  with many details.
• is a period of artistic style (1600 to 1750)
• three different periods: early, middle and late
• new musical forms: suite, fugue, sonata,
cantata and oratorio
• Famous musician artists: Johann

Swing dancing is forbidden - a myth?
• Swing Dance was banned in 1937
"imposed on local or regional level" and
related to mainly dance halls where it has
been regularly swing dancing.
• Since 1938 signs which hung out at swing
dancing halls have not been
allowed.
Background
• The Swing youth was an opposition group
during the national socialist dictatorship.
• It consists of teens between the age of 1421.
• They organized dance partyies
• They made jokes about the
„Hittler Youth“ and the national
socialists.
