ALEXA BEATTIE
Alexa Beattie began studying the viola with Pauline Hickman at North Berwick High School. She
furthered her studies at St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh and gained her Bachelors and
Masters degrees in Viola Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in
London. She concluded her studies with a Chamber Music Certificate in San Francisco where she
graduated with Honours.
Now based in Munich Alexa is a regular guest with Munich Chamber Orchestra, Asam Classical
Soloists and a Principal player for the Bavarian Philharmonic. Recent festival appearances include
the Oleg Kagan and Rheingau Festivals in Germany, and the Tongyeong International Music
Festival in South Korea. She has performed with some of the world’s leading chamber musicians
such as Robert Mann, Andrew Watkinson, Kim Kashkashian as well as artists Sting and Tears in
X-Ray Eyes.

Beverley started her dance training at Dance for All in Edinburgh from the age of ten. While at NBHS, she
subsequently studied Higher dance at Broughton High School in her 5th year. She furthered her training by
attending Scottish Ballet Junior and Senior Associates in Glasgow. From this she auditioned and gained a place at
Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, where she performed in Kerry Nicholl's, Lament, Martha
Graham's, Steps in the Street (Rehearsed:Regina Wielingen) and Ross McKim's, It is Finished. In her final year at
Rambert she performed with Theatre Nomad and with Opera North as Louise in Carousel at the Leeds Grand
Theatre, Leeds, The Lowry, Manchester and at the Barbican, London. She then worked on a choreographic
project with Gary Clarke and for a play with Hofesh Schetcher.
Following this, she returned to dance the role of Louise in Carousel at Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris. Last summer she
worked with Scottish Opera on a 1930s dance piece called 'Dance Derby' in the Edinburgh Fringe, which will tour
again in autumn 2014. More recently she has been working on aerial skills in Scotland and will be performing
harness dance on the Glasgow Science Centre for the Commonwealth Games with Cryptic and on a building at
Strathclyde University with Conflux.

CHARLOTTE GASCOYNE
Charlotte Gascoyne started her love of acting in the North Berwick High School Youth Music Theatre.
She went on to train as an actress at Drama Studio London and has since been working on both stage
and screen.
Television and Film credits include Hollyoaks (Lime Pictures), Honeymooner (Soda Pictures), The Projectionist
(British Film Institute), The Boat That Rocked (Frigate Films), Scrutiny (TV Pilot) and Trained, (Paradox
Films) which has most recently won the award for Best Foreign Short at the LA Indie Film Festival 2013.
Theatre credits include, Sherlock Holmes and the Speckled Band (Theatre Mill, York), Boys' Life (Kings Head
Theatre, London), A Royal Mess (Arts Theatre, West End) Female Parts (Contact Theatre, Manchester) Over
the Rainbow (UK tour) and Phaedre (John Thaw Studio, Manchester).

HOLLY CARTER
Whilst at school, Holly studied singing under Joan Bassett and went on to study music at the University of York.
Holly joined the National Youth Choir of Scotland aged seventeen and performed in many prestigious events,
such as the BBC Proms in the Albert Hall London, the BBC Proms in the Park in Glasgow, The MTV Europe
Music Awards with Christina Aguilera and the Edinburgh International Festival. In 2003 she toured Chicago,
performing Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast and Britain’s War Requiem with the Grant Park Festival Chorus. On
graduating from university, she worked as a Musicianship Instructor for the National Youth Choir of Scotland.
Holly continued her studies in London at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she sang
with the vocal quartet Dolcezza and the Trinity Laban Chamber Choir. Since moving to London, she has enjoyed
performing the roles of Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Susanna in the Marriage of Figaro and Cis in Britten’s Albert Herring.

GARNETS
Jules and the Blue Garnets are an up and coming folk/pop band based in Edinburgh. The Blue Garnets
was formed by Julia Hoare and Robin Hiley, later joined by Chris Rawson. Chris has since continued to
play with the band, adding his own style to the Blue Garnet’s music. All three are multi-instrumentalists.
Jules and the Blue Garnet’s have performed in various venues over Scotland. Their first official gig was at
the world renowned ‘Celtic Connections’ in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
Both Jules and Rob hold Masters Degrees in Musicology from King’s College London and Edinburgh
University respectively. Prior to this they both graduated from Newcastle University with undergraduate
music degrees. Chris recently graduated from Edinburgh University where he studied history.
December 2012 saw the release of their first EP and biggest gig to date supporting Runrig at their sell
out Perth Concert Hall show. Their EP has since received consistent five star ratings on iTunes and
glowing reviews.

JULIA BOON
Upon leaving school, Julia went on to study at the University of York, where she graduated with a BA(Hons) in
Music and an MA in Community Music. She began her career in the music industry as the Assistant Orchestra
Manager at the London Philharmonic Orchestra (having been with the Orchestra for three months beforehand as
an unpaid intern). Julia enjoyed many exciting experiences here such as touring the world to China, the USA, and
all over Europe, as well as working with the orchestra on exciting projects such as the BBC Proms, recording the
soundtrack for the Hobbit movie and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee river pageant in London.
After two years with the orchestra she decided to move on and explore a different side of the classical music
management industry, and she now works for HarrisonParrott, one of the top Artist Management agencies in
London. Here, her clients include the Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Honorary
Conductor for life of the Philharmonia Orchestra. She has been involved with projects such as BBC Young
Musician of the Year, as well as working with some of the most respected artists in the classical music field.
MOLLY VEVERS
MOLLY VEVERS
Molly left North Berwick High School to do an HNC in Acting & Performance at
Edinburgh's Telford College. From there was accepted to the Royal Conservatoire
of Scotland's BA Acting course.
Upon graduating, Molly won the Highly Commended Spotlight Prize and was
offered a place with Dundee Rep theatre, as part of their ensemble of actor's for
one year.
Molly has worked throughout Scotland and beyond, including working with the
Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, Sherman Cymru in Cardiff, BBC Radio, National
Theatre of Scotland, The Comedy Unit and ITV.
OLIVER SEARLE
OLIVER SEARLE
Oliver completed a BEd (Music) degree and spent time as a classroom teacher before continuing
studies with a LLCM in Piano Performance, followed by a MMus and PhD in Composition.
He has won the Mendelssohn Scholarship, was the first composer to be awarded the Silver Medal
from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, and has been nominated for both a British
Composer Award, and a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
He currently has a lecturing post at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and regularly composes
works for ensembles, orchestras and youth groups, as well as writing music for theatre and
educational purposes.
SHEILA GRANT
SHEILA GRANT
Sheila trained at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in London and
graduated with a 1st BA (hons) in Dance and Theatre Performance. Since then,
Sheila has worked in many musicals, plays, films and TV shows. Credits include
Cabaret, Carousel, Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure, Belle & Sebastian’s God Help the
Girl and The Mighty Boosh.
Sheila also teaches dance and choreographs musicals for schools around London.
Musicals have included Oliver and We Will Rock You.
Sheila is currently performing in the West End musical Wicked at the Apollo Victoria
Theatre.
ALISON GILLILAND
ALISON GILLILAND
After Leaving North Berwick High School in 1994, Alison studied for a Batchelor of Education in Music at the
Northern College of Education in Aberdeen. She graduated with first-class honours in 1998. She began her
teaching career back at North Berwick High School and also at Preston Lodge High School, before heading to the
Highlands for a full time post at Nairn Academy in 1999. She remained at Nairn until 2009, when she moved to
her current post as Principal Teacher of Music at Fortrose Academy in Ross-shire.
While at school, Alison also had an interest in Performing Arts. She danced with The Morag Alexander School of
Dance in Musselburgh and also worked with the Scottish Dance Theatre. Her love of musical theatre has
continued and Alison now also works as a children’s vocal coach at TFX Performing Arts Academy in Inverness.
Her pupils have performed on the West End, gained places at prestigious theatre schools such as Italia Conti in
London and the Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama, and have gone on to study at musical conservatoires,
including The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
LUCILLA GRAHAM
LUCILLA GRAHAM
Mezzo-soprano Lucilla Graham was born in Glasgow and grew up in North Berwick, where she attended North Berwick High School from
2000 – 2006 and began taking singing lessons in fifth year. As a young adult her singing and operatic interests were nourished through being
a member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland and singing regularly with Opera East Lothian.
Lucilla went on to study music and graduated from the University of Glasgow as a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) in 2010. She
then completed her Master of Music degree in 2013 at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she specialised in Singing and
Performance.
In 2014, Lucilla was a chorus member of Grange Park Opera for productions of La Traviata (Dir. Lindsay Posner) and Don Quichotte (Dir.
Charles Edwards). Principal operatic roles to date include ‘Mercedes’ in Carmen, ‘Angelina’ in La Cenerentola, and Amastre in Xerxes. Lucilla
has performed in several premiers; including Malcolm Arnold’s one act opera The Dancing Master at the Malcolm Arnold Festival in 2012, and
as ‘Zoe’ in composer Michael Betteridge’s opera Zoe Trope at the Cockpit Theatre’s Rough for Opera initiative in 2014.
Lucilla has taken part in public master classes with Dame Felicity Palmer, Ann Murray DBE and Malcolm Martineau, and enjoys learning a
diverse range of repertoire from oratorio to contemporary opera. She also teaches singing, both in schools and privately.
