Let’s Dream for
• A system that simplifies grading
• A system that files and stores student
assessments
• A system that is portable
• A system that is multi-platform
• A system you can tailor to your needs
Problem
• Difficult to assess student multimedia
projects
• Students need feedback based on an
accurate project measurement
• While experience may tell you as an
instructor what a “B” presentation is, this
does not help your student improve
performance over time
Structure
• Standardize, Standardize, Standardize
• Develop your own standard project
sheets and have all projects follow that
format
• Develop a set of rubrics that are general
in nature to be used on multiple
assignments, but provide meaningful
student feedback
Solution
• Developed rubrics to assess
Content and Presentation
• Content rubric then either
• Speaker Presentation or
• Stand-alone Presentation
• Import the word rubrics into
FileMaker as a background
• Created database for student
names
• Created database for presentations

– Send a rubric by email
• Import Scores from an Excel
Spreadsheet
Benefits
• Automate grading of student multimedia
presentations
• Standardize grading of student multimedia
presentations
• Catalog the results of student assessment
• Provide written feedback for students
• Electronic import the scores into GradeQuick
• Using iMailer plug-in to email completed
rubrics to KSU Students
– This is truly a remarkable and easy solution to
distribute student assessments
Current and Future Applications
• Using Dedicated Database for all
scoring in BISM class
• Setup a database for grading Class
Notebooks
• Setting up future databases to do
lesson plans
• Looking to connect lesson plan
database to my online MySQL website
database
