and the Geoscience
Community
Workshop Focus
If we are to most effectively
– Educate the needed workforce
– Prepare 100% of students for suitable employment
What do our students need to know and be able to do
when they graduate?
What attitudes, other attributes, and products do they
need to be successful?
What models do we have or can we imagine for getting
there?
Workshop Outputs
• 30 individuals armed to enhance their own programming
• Collection of program descriptions linked with information on
employment pathways, learning outcomes, and design strategies for
moving alumni to work
• Summary of lessons learned at workshop including learning outcomes
linked to work competencies, strategic ideas on design and
recommendations for community scale actions
• Reference and resource collection addressing linkages between
geoscience education and workforce
• Leadership group bridging academic and employment communities with
new understanding of broad workforce/education linkages and follow on
activities of their own design
