Why did the Church face so many setbacks in
the understanding of the Catholic faith?
 Many priests caring for the sick contracted the plague and
died
 Many priests said private masses for the dead and collected
money for their services
 Study of theology in universities declined
 Lack of understanding of the real meaning of the Eucharist
