He did this by censorship
Censorship
• Goebbels banned many
things that he believed
would harm Germany, or
the Nazi party.
• Many Weimar Republic
authors, along with poets,
playwrights and musicians
of this era.
• He also encouraged proNazi culture, such as
Wagner.
Radio
• He also made radios very
cheap, so everyone could get
one, no matter of wealth
• He did this so as to let
everyone hear Nazi
broadcasts, even the poor (to
whom they would have
appealed)
• There were as many radios
as there were people in
1930’s Germany
The Nazi Newspapers
• There was “Der Stürmer”
(The Attacker), pictured right.
• This was more of a tabloid
paper, appealing to lower
classes.
• Goebbels own paper was
“Das Reich” (The Empire)
• Goebbels himself wrote for it.
• Read by upwards of 1 million
people
• There were also many more,
smaller newspapers.
Speeches
• Hitler was a very gifted
public speaker, and could
win over a crowd in
minutes.
• He did these at the
Nuremburg rallies, among
others.
• This spread the word, and
would also make people
think Nazism is right.
