oppress - to treat badly
brute - cruel or brutal person
representation - speaking on someone's

mercantilism - colonists are a source of
income for the “mother country”

raw materials -natural resources such as iron,
oil and wood that are sold to be made into a
product
manufactured goods- making goods from raw
materials on a large scale
Parliament – the law making body of Great
Britain
Debt – money that is owed

resentment – a feeling of anger about
someone or something that is unfair
civil disobedience – refusing to obey laws that
are considered unfair without becoming
