The castle of Zasmuky faces the main
village square, yet one is unaware of it,
due to the surrounding park. Within the
17ha park there are two lakes (1.4 ha).
Apart from some old trees most of the
park was used as an orchard, to store fruit
there is an underground room of 30 meters
(width 6 m) built into a hill.
The castle has 16 buildings covering a
10000 m2 area

The main
castle
in 1992
The army left Zasmuky totally ruined. In 1982 a fire demolished the roof and
tower of the main building and no repairs took place until 1992, when it was
returned to the heir of the former owner.
Reconstruction
Before all else it was necessary to
reinforce the basic structure.
Roofs, windows and plaster work
followed.
The other buildings on the property
At the entrance in to the park there are two,
as yet un-repaired, houses. The gardener’s
cottage has 3 rooms on the ground floor,
the gardeners house has 6 rooms on two
floors. A modern prefabricated hall, 560
m2, left over from the army, could be used
for various sporting activities.
Former farm buildings
The large barn (no14), the stables (no 13 which could be made in to a two story
building) and the sty with another, fourth barn attached (no 16).
