Pituitary Gland
• Description- found at the base of skull
• Hormones- Human Growth Hormone
(HGH)
• Diseases– Gigantism= too much HGH
– Dwarfism= not enough HGH

Thyroid Gland
• Description- regulates metabolism
• Hormones- thyroxin
• Diseases– Hyperthyroidism- too much thyroxin
– Hypothyroidism- too little thyroxin
Parathyroid
• Description- 4 small glands located on the
back of the thyroid; regulates calcium
levels
• Hormones- parathyroid hormone
Adrenal Gland
• Description- Glands located on top of
kidneys; release hormones that help body
deal with stress
• Hormones- Epinephrine, Norepinephrine
Pancreas
• Description- releases hormones into the
blood to regulate amount of sugar within
the blood.
• Hormones- insulin and glucagon
• Diabetes- condition in which the proper
amount of insulin is NOT produced
