Intro to X-Rays
Things you need
◦ Upper cervical specific x-ray machine
- A single phase / high frequency/digital aligned to NUCCA
specifications
Intro to X-Rays
Upper Cervical Chair
◦ The X-Ray Chair runs on a series of linear bearing guides. It has
9" of cross travel, 30" of longitudinal travel and rotates a full 360
degrees. It can be locked in any position and has an adjustable
back rest.

Intro to X-Rays
Lateral
◦ 10”x12”
◦ Central Ray @ C1- C2
◦ 42”
Purpose
◦ To obtain the S or I line of the atlas
◦ Tells if the atlas has gone inferior or superior
◦ To determine where to take the nasium
Intro to X-Rays
Nasium
◦ 10”x12”
◦ Central Ray(determined by the S-Line)
◦ 42”
Purpose
◦ Determined atlas laterality (Right or Left)
◦ Lower angle and upper angle to determine which
type
◦ Determine APL, A/O, C/A, Ang, Atl, OD, BC, Sp
◦ Calculations for height vector (High or Low)
◦ Spinous rotation of C2 to determine if torque is
needed
Intro to X-Rays
Vertex
◦ 10”x12”
◦ Central Ray at right angle to skull floor
◦ 42”
Purpose
◦ C1 rotation to determine posterior or anterior vector
