top of the body (excluding arms and legs)
____________ – refers to structures being closer to the
lower part of the body (excluding arms and legs)
____________– towards the midline or mid-sagittal

Terms of Movement
____________ : movement away from the midline
____________ : movement toward the midline
____________ : bending movement, decreasing the angle of a
joint by bringing bones closer together
____________ : a straightening movement, increasing the angle
of a joint by moving bones further apart
____________ : circular movement of a limb that describes a
cone, combining the movements of flexion, extension, abduction
and adduction
____________ : (outward rotation, lateral rotation) is rotary
movement around the longitudinal axis of a bone away from the
midline
____________ : (inward rotation, medial rotation) is rotary
movement around the longitudinal axis toward the midline

Terms of Movement:
ankle and foot only
____________ : the turning the sole of the foot outward
or laterally; lateral border is elevated
____________ : the turning the sole of the foot inward
or medially; medial border is elevated
____________ : flexion movement of the ankle that
results in the top of the foot moving toward the
anterior tibia bone
____________ : an extension movement of the ankle
that results in the foot and toes moving away from the
body (pointed toes)

____________ : internal rotation of radius
resulting in palms down position
____________ : external rotation of radius
resulting in palms up position
____________ (of thumb): a diagonal
movement of thumb across palmer surface of
hand to contact fingers
____________ : when the thumb is returned
back to the anatomical position

girdle away from spine OR abduction of scapula
