Assessment and Accountability



accountability: being held answerable for performance
and actions
Levels of Assessment

classroom assessment: process of measuring individual
student achievement of course outcomes

program assessment: process of measuring how well
students are achieving outcomes specific to that program
and using the results to improve that program

assessment of services: process of measuring how well
the service provided is achieving those goals set for it
and using the results to improve that service
The Program Assessment System

Each baccalaureate program has defined student learning
outcomes

Each program is assessed according to these outcomes
and held accountable to use this assessment to improve
the program
Assessment for Service Units

Each unit has a set of purposes defined as goals

Each unit is evaluated according to those goals and held
accountable to use the results of evaluation for
improvement of services

A program outcome is a specific statement that
