Broadway is the district in NYC where theatrical
performances are staged in one of over 40 theatres
A Broadway theatre is one that houses over 500 seats,
with the largest housing 1933 seats (Gershwin Theatre,
home of Wicked)
Broadway is a billion dollar industry creating over 40,000
jobs in NYC
The longest running Broadway show is Phantom of the
Opera, playing since January 1988, performing over
9100 shows and still counting
