PREPOSITIONS
Words that show the relationship between
a noun or pronoun and other words in a
sentence
FIND YOUR OWN PREPOSITIONS!
Each person at your table will get one bunny and
one cup.
Move the bunny and the cup in order to come up
with words that describe where the bunny is in
relation to the cup.
Write these words down in the left column of
your paper!
Come up with as many words as you can
(Hint: there might be more than one word that
describes where the bunny is)
We will worry about the right side of your paper
in a few minutes.
GIVE ONE, GET ONE
Now we’re going to share words!
One person from each table stand up and move
clockwise to the next table.
When you get to your new table, compare your
lists and give the table 1 preposition that they
didn’t have before. When you are given the
preposition, write it on the right hand column
along with who you got the word from.
The table will then give their visitor a preposition
as well.
LET’S THINK ABOUT THE
DEFINITION AGAIN…
Prepositions: Words that show the relationship
between a noun or pronoun and other words in a
sentence
Words can be related in more ways than just
where they are.
Ex: It snows during the winter.

Make a circle map and list as many prepositions
as you can remember. I’ll collect them when you
finish.
