Using Sequencing Words

Writing with Style
• Word Choice is very important when writing.
You should choose words that will make your
writing more interesting or more readable for
the reader.
• When writing a “How-to” paragraph, it is
important to choose words that show the
sequence, or order, of the steps for the reader.
What sequence words do you know?
• Brainstorm some sequence words
and write each word on a sticker
label or paper cut-out.
• Then, read the paragraph on the next
slide, “How to Make Boiled Eggs.”
