• Earth surface: only planet with water on surface, and 71%
covered with water. Also composed of mountains, plains,
swamps and deserts.

• Climate: average climate is 13 deg. C (55.4 deg F). Because
of greenhouse effect earth’s temperature is raised 35 deg. C
(95 deg. F). Without greenhouse effect earth would be a
much colder planet, like Mars.
• There is life on earth because there is the necessary gases
for life such as oxygen, hydrogen and a balance of carbon
dioxide. Earth also has a suitable climate for life.

past life habitation and a favorable planet for
human habitation.
Saturn

• Environment: Saturn is the
only planet that is less
dense than water.
• Saturn is composed mostly
of gases, mainly hydrogen
and small amt. of helium
and methane.

but avg. temp. range is
130deg. C. at cloud
tops and 30deg. C.
below. Clouds also
cause Ultraviolet light,
lightening, discharge
and heat.
Special Facts About Jupiter
• There is a high pressure region of clouds moving
counter clockwise known as the “Great Red Spot”
and it stretches 12,000 by 25,000km in length and is
possibly made of Red phosphorus.
• The Rapid rotation of clouds on Jupiter causes belts
and zones that encircle the planet parallel to the
equator.
• One of Jupiter’s largest moon’s Europa is 3138km in
diameter , and it is covered in ice on it’s surface.
Scientists say that under the ice layer there may be
liquid water, which may support life.

planet because composed
mostly of (Co2)= (92%)
nitro-gen= 3.5%, and
sulfuric clouds. It has
green-House effect
because of (Co2).
Climate: High temp, avg=
(464deg. C). Because of
high temp and atmospheric pressure it is a
hostile environment for
space probes and any life
habitation.

It has no rings
and no moons
It is the
brightest of
all planets.
It’s rotation is
sychronized with
earth so that the
same face always
presents it’s self
to earth when
they are at their
closest approach.
Pluto
• Pluto is the smallest planet. It is only 2300km wide
in diameter and has the smallest mass w/ .0022 g/kg
in density.
• Orbit: Revolves on it’s axis, like Uranus, and at a
122.5 deg. Tilt. One side of Pluto gets extreme periods
of darkness.
• Distance from Sun: Farthest planet from sun (3.67
bill. miles away), orbits with Neptune around sun and
it takes 6.39 days for a full rotation and 247.8 yrs. To
revolve around the sun.

•Environment: No space probes have succeeded to
land on Pluto, so not much is known about the planet
(estimated to happen 2015). It is observed to be a
planet covered in ice like it’s moon Charon.
• Climate: . Avg. temp. believed to be (-378/-396d.F)
Believed to be composed of primarily nitrogen (98%)
and small amts. Of methane and (C02).
• Special Facts: Many astronomers believe Pluto is not
a planet but either a star one of the 44 dwarf planets
which are planets scientists know of but have not
