It started when the British
Parliament was using its colonies to
pay for the war debt gained from the
French and Indian War. The
American colonist had began to
develop their own national identity
and they thought that it wasn’t fare
to pay these taxes.
Each of the thirteen colonies had established
their own respective governmental institutions
to govern their territory by 1774.
The colonies also had representatives who
they sent to a larger body, the Continental
Congress. At the First Continental Congress in
1774, the seeds for revolution were planted as
the representatives drafted a list of their
grievances to the King of England, King George,
and called for a boycott of British goods
imported to the colonies.
On the night of March 5, 1770, a crowd of
people began harassing a soldier by
insulting him and throwing snowballs at
him. His call for help brought 9 soldiers, led
by Captain Thomas Preston. They
continued harassing him until someone
yelled “FIRE” and the soldiers began
shooting. 3 people were killed and 8 other
people were badly wounded, two of them
died later on. No one knew who gave the
order to fire. This event is called the
“Boston Massacre”
In 1773, Britain passed the tea act.
By this act 17 million pounds of tea
was proposed to be sold in
America. On the evening of
December 16, 1773, 60 men
disguised as Native Americans
dumped the entire shipment of tea
to the harbor. This is event is called
the Boston Tea Party.
They started with the creation of the
Virginia Company and the founding
of Jamestown. European countries
were eager to expand their
influence to the "new world" and to
find riches as well as religious
freedom.

-The actual fighting started in 1775 in
Massachusetts
(Mas-sa-chu-setts) (at Lexington and Concord)
when British soldiers were ordered to confiscate
ammunition being stored there. American minute
men moved to stop them.

The fighting ended in 1781 when
the British General Cornwallis
surrendered to George Washington
at the Siege of Yorktown. This was
in no way a decisive battle (having
the power or quality of deciding),
the British had not been defeated,
they just wanted to stop fighting.
The Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas
Jefferson and adopted by the Second Continental
Congress, states the reasons the British colonies of
North America sought independence in July 2,1776.
13 colonies decided that the American colonies were
free and on the 4th of July, the Declaration of
Independence was adopted. So July 4th was the day
when the 13 colonies called themselves free, but the
war with Britain wasn't over yet. The American
Revolution ended on October 19, 1781 when the
British surrendered. In September of 1783 the Treaty
of Paris was signed and that was when everyone saw
The United States as being their own nation.
The Treaty of Paris
In 1783, the Treaty of Paris ended the
war with the revolutionaries in North
America as victorious. The British
Empire surrendered the entire east
coast to the revolutionaries, and their
lack of consultation with their
American Indian allies left the Native
Americans bitter, and many battles
and wars were fought later one.

Summary
We could say that the American
Revolution was a period of time in
which the thirteen colonies settled in
America joined forces to become
independent of the rule of the British
Empire.
We could say that the American
Revolution started because the people
thought it wasn’t fare for them to pay
taxes. This was the seed that lead to the
American Revolution, which eventually
lead to the formation of the thirteen
colonies.
