during JR or SR year.
• Must pass equivalent of Algebra 1 to meet state standards

Fall
 Register and take PSAT in October




Take NCAA approved classes if you plan to play a college sport
Study hard and do well in school, make sure you are on track for A-G requirements if you plan to go to a 4year school.
Sign-up if you have not done so already, for extracurricular activities that interest you and volunteer.
Keep a record of your involvement and volunteer work and employment.
Winter



Start collecting college information and researching options, visit the counseling office for information or visit
college or university home pages.
Get Familiar with the college admission process so you’ll know what to expect before college.
Consider visiting college campuses and talk with college students.
Spring



Consult your counselor to make sure you are prepped for junior year classes, let them know your goals for
college and career.
Continue to research career options and consider possible college majors that will help you achieve your career
goals.
Job Shadow someone who does what you think you would like to do.
Summer



Get a job and start a college savings account.
Be productive. Do things to prepare yourself for the upcoming school year.
Do SAT/PSAT practice tests to familiarize yourself with standardized tests.

October 28, 2014
• PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying
Test. It's a test that measures the skills you've developed in reading, math and
writing. Typically, students take the test as juniors and sophomores.
WHY?
• Scholarship opportunities. If you’re a junior, your score might qualify you for
scholarships and recognition through the National Merit Scholarship.
• SAT practice, feedback, information from colleges and college and career
planning help via College Board.
Cost is $20.00 (cash only) Please see Julie Sousa in
the front office to register until spots are filled.
