WASHINGTON-LEE HIGH SCHOOL
The IB Program at Washington-Lee High School encourages students
to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world
citizens.

• 81% diploma pass rate in 2011 (35 of 43)
• 4.89 average grade obtained by candidates who
passed the diploma (4.89 out of 7)
• 31 average points obtained by candidates who
passed the diploma (31 out of 45)
• 364 students took 737 exams in 30 subject areas
• 72% students tested scored a 4 or better (4 out of 7)

CONTENTS: WHAT DOES THE IB DIPLOMA
PROGRAM CURRICULUM CONTAIN?
The curriculum contains six subject groups and a core of three parts
Students study concurrently:
• three subjects at the high
level (240 hours each)
• three subjects at the standard
level (150 hours each)
• all three parts of the core

Application Deadline – January 20, 2012 (4PM)
At least one parent or guardian must attend two high school information
sessions. A transfer application must be signed by the principal at the end of
each meeting.
W-L is only accepting IB transfers. If the number of qualified program
transfers exceeds 83 a random double-blind lottery will be conducted by the
Superintendent’s office.
Transfers that do not pursue the full diploma must take three IB courses
Junior and Senior year. All IB transfers are also required to take AP
Government in 10th grade.
Bus transportation is provided for IB transfers that live at least 1.5 miles
away.
