What is GPA?
 Your GPA is your grade point average
 Your GPA is calculated by assigning each letter grade
with a number value (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0)
 The sum of all of the grade points is divided by the
number of classes taken
 The cumulative/overall GPA is reflected on your
transcript
 The cumulative GPA is re-calculated every semester
starting in 9th grade and includes all grades earned
during high school

What is Class Rank?
 A mathematical measure of how a student's
performance compares to other students in his or her
class
 compilation of courses and grades is converted to an
overall grade point average (GPA)
 the higher the GPA, the higher the student's class
ranking
Minimum Requirements for Grade
Classification
In order for students to be considered to be in the
appropriate grade level, they must complete the following
number of credits by August:
Sophomore 35
Junior
70
Senior
105
Students who have not attained the appropriate number of
credits must remain in the previous year’s grade level.
However, such action does not necessarily mean that a
student cannot graduate with his original class. A School
Counselor can best advise you with respect to your grade
level status.
