Terminology
 Prerequisite: Requirement for taking course.
 Units of Credit: Each successfully completed course
earns one “credit”; Failed courses do not earn credit;
both count as credits attempted.
 Quality Points: Numerical value of letter grade
 GPA: Grade Point Average
(calculated by adding quality points earned and
dividing sum by the total credits attempted.)
Terminology
 Unweighted GPA: Based on 4.0 scale
 Weighted GPA: Includes extra quality points for
increased requirements Honors (5.0) or AP (6.0)
 Honors: Harder, more challenging; move at faster pace
 Advanced Placement: College level course taught at
HS; students must meet prerequisites to enroll and
take AP Exam; Most colleges award credit for scores of
3 or higher.
 Huskins Course: College level course for HS students,
which carries HS and College Credit for successful
completion.
