High School Credits from Middle School

Students can earn High School credits for Math, Physical
Science and/or World Languages while in Middle School
(7th and 8th grade World Language equals 1.0 high school
credit).

Students/Parents may choose to accept the grade/credit or
deny the grade/credit and retake the course in high school.*

High School credits earned in Middle School are not
included in HOPE Scholarship GPA calculations.
* More information will come from the Middle School at the end of the school year.

General Grading Policies
Interim progress reports will be issued to students every 6
weeks
Report cards are issued at the end of S1 and S2; these
final grades are reflected on the high school transcript
Each course semester is independent of the other; S1 and
S2 course grades are NOT averaged
Honors and AP courses receive an additional 7 points
added to the final passing grade
Parents can use Home Access Center (HAC) to track
assignments, grades, attendance, discipline, etc. during
the semester

Middle School Teachers have made
recommendations for core course placements.
Please contact the Middle School Teacher if you
have questions about your student’s placement.

Verification forms will be delivered to the Middle
School on March 4th. Students/Parents will use
these forms to review teacher recommendations
and select elective courses.

The verification form is also used to confirm that
your student is registered for 6.0 credits.

Final course verifications will be returned to the
Middle School near the end of March.

How do you know you’re in TAG
when you come to the Hooch?
• If you have been in TAG, your eligibility will roll
over into high school.
• Your middle school TAG teachers will send a
list of all rising 9th grade TAG students to the
Hooch TAG department chair (me) and your
TAG folders. We know who you are before
you get here!
• I go visit our feeder Middle Schools in May

• Made up of 26 students which meet once a week on
the same day during lunch/homeroom (4th or 5th)
• FF Goal Statement; To orient gifted students to high
school and the gifted program and develop an
understanding of their unique talents and individual
gifts.
• I will have a meeting with all the TAG 9th graders the
2nd week of school.
• I will send a flyer to their homeroom the 3rd week of
school (after the 10 day count & schedule changes)
