Student scores on the EOC exams will have a direct effect on
the following at Chaparral Star Academy
GPA
Class Rank
Grades
Graduation Plan
EOC SCORES & GRADUATION
The scores from EOC exams break down into the following three
categories (lowest to highest):
LEVEL I: Unsatisfactory Academic Achievement
LEVEL II: Satisfactory Academic Achievement
LEVEL III: Advanced Academic Achievement
The scores from EOC exams directly effect the three different
graduation plans:
Minimum High School Plan (MHSP)
Recommended High School Plan (RHSP)
Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP)
The governing board of Chaparral Star Academy expects and
encourages all high school students to graduate under the DAP.
To give teachers & schools a chance to adjust to the new testing
requirements, the state has implemented phase-in standards. The
standards will increase every 2 years until the final standard has been
reached (in 2016).
EOC SCORES & GRADUATION
The state has published a chart of the scores for each category
EOC SCORES & GRADUATION
For each graduation plan, a cumulative score
under each of the 4 cores must be earned.
Algebra I EOC Score + Geometry EOC Score + Algebra II

English II Reading EOC Score + English II Writing EOC Score

EOC SCORES & GRADUATION
The state has also published a chart explaining each of the
graduation plans and the corresponding EOC cumulative score
requirement:
EOC SCORES & GRADUATION
A student’s cumulative
scores (and respective
Level III scores for DAP)
can be requested from
Mr. Barnett or found at
the bottom of a student’s
graduation plan
(distributed in January
and at the time of next
year scheduling).
EOC SCORES & COURSE GRADES
Starting in the 2012-13 school year, the scores from EOC exams
will count as 15% of a student’s grade in the corresponding course.
Each semester grade for a course is calculated as such:
.80*(average of three cycles) + .20*(midterm/final exam)
After the two semester grades have been finalized, the yearlong
grade will be calculated as such:
.85*(average of two semesters) + .15*(EOC conversion)
This final grade will be used in GPA calculations, which directly
affects class rank.
The grade from the first administration on which the student passed
will be the one used when determining course grades.
Although a student may re-take an EOC to try and increase their
core cumulative score, only the score from the first administration
on which the student passed will be used when determining course
grades.
EOC SCORES CONVERSION
EOC scores will be converted to grades (for the purpose
of the 15% rule) according to an “anchor method”
Students receiving the maximum score on an EOC will
receive a conversion of 100
Students scoring in the Level III: Advanced Academic
Achievement range will receive a conversion of 95
Students scoring in the Level II: Satisfactory Academic
Achievement range will receive a conversion of 85
Students scoring in the Level I: Unsatisfactory Academic
Achievement range will receive a conversion of 69
Students scoring below the Level I range will receive a
conversion of 60

Here is a chart to help explain the conversion (with Algebra I EOC as an example):
